Celebrating Partnerships, Culture, and a Proud Moment for the Next Generation
Weskus 15 April 2025 – Weskus Tourism, in partnership with West Coast District Municipality, has concluded a remarkable and impactful presence at WTM Africa 2025, held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The global travel and tourism trade show brought together over 6,000 industry professionals from 96 countries, fostering invaluable networking opportunities and collaborative engagements.
At the heart of Weskus Tourism’s success this year were its dynamic partners, Bergrivier Tourism and Namaqua West Coast. Their support and shared vision were key contributors to a vibrant and unified showcase of the Weskus region’s tourism potential.
One of the most memorable highlights of the event was the performance by learners from Elizabethfontein Primary, nestled in the Cederberg region. Representing true Weskus culture, these championship-winning Rieldansers dazzled an international audience during the final day of the trade show.
“Tourism is much more than just a revenue generator,” said Heinrich Robertson, Head of Public Relations and Tourism at the West Coast District Municipality. “It’s a life-changing platform—offering exposure, creating opportunities, and celebrating talent. Watching the Elizabethfontein learners perform on a global stage was a moment of immense pride. I hope to one day see them open a Formula 1 race or perform internationally at major trade shows.”
With SABC News and other mainstream media present, the performance was not only a cultural showcase but a potentially career-launching opportunity for the young dancers.
As Weskus Tourism reflects on the success of WTM Africa 2025, it extends heartfelt thanks to all its partners, supporters, and attendees who contributed to an inspiring and productive event. The experience reaffirms the importance of unity and creativity in tourism, paving the way for exciting developments and deeper connections ahead.
